The dual-SIM(Nano) Huawei Y9a is built around a 6.63-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) TFT display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 SoC which works in tandem with 6GB of RAM. There is also an 8GB variant that is currently limited to the Middle East and a number of countries in Asia.

In the camera department, four rear cameras with a 64MP shooter headlining the setup take care of photography needs. This 64MP sensor is assisted by an 8MP secondary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. Up front, a 16MP pop-up selfie takes care of video calls and selfies. The Huawei Y9a launched with 128GB of onboard storage (that is expandable to 256GB via microSD) and packs a 4,300mAh battery with 40W Huawei SuperCharge support. It runs the Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 on top. There is currently no word from the company concerning the pricing and availability of this device
